  • Your favorite enemies of all time

We're talking about two categories here- both the evil mastermind behind it all, and the little common lowly soldiers who are fun to fight.

My favorite evil mastermind is the man in the suit from Half-Life. He's always watching you wherever you go, and he's clearly got some shady stuff going on. You never find out what he's up to, and that makes him all the more creepy.

My favorite lowly grunt types vary. I thought the AI in Halo was very well done, but their attacks are mostly very similar. The enemies from the other big alien games are more unique. I'm gonna go with the invisible sword-carrying Covenants from Halo. They're great fun and they always freak me out. The headcrabs from Half-Life are really fun, but only when you face them with a crowbar. Otherwise its not very sporting.

I hated the Blue Shift special ops people. Especially that group of 'em at the end of the train tunnel

I loved the imps in doom. i think that is what they were called. those brown fellas who threw fireballs at you. a well aimed shotgun blast would put them down and it was fun blasting away at them.

It's not too hard. You crouch and move slowly, so they don't hear you. Then you can sometimes pick one off with a headshot from the .357. Then you have some breathing room. Then go around the room in a route that does not seem intuitive. You'll find that they all are facing towards the "intuitive" route. Thus you can sneak up behind them and kill them with an easy headshot, or even the crowbar.

Maybe, i only played through it once, not counting the 15 or so times i reloaded it in one go, i had 10hp and that was my best save point and it seemed pretty hard, the marines were impressive too.

Ouch. I went through all three HL titles with 100/100 the whole time. There are a few times when losing some sheild is unavoidable, such as the OF boss, and Gonarch's mini-headcrabs, but through various AI exploits, it's possible to go through the whole game with only minor scrapes. For example, if the aliens don't see you, they won't move, even if you are shooting them. The black ops AIs often won't respond if they hear a gunshot- they only look for you if they see their comrade die.

                    I love pigcops in Duke3D.

I absolutely detest the flying head that spits out the skulls in Doom. The skulls are okay on their own, but the flying head is a pain to kill.

this guy always makes me want to rise up for the challange - shame that most of the time the games he's been in haven't been what they could have been.
