      • No not that one either.

Clue3: it was an action game, but with a really zany twist that made it stand out from the crowd.

EDIT: lateral thought - think Lord of The Rings in conjuction with the other clues and it might jog something?

        • I've got lots of ideas, but that eco friendly way behaviour thingy really has me baffled

          But just to say something:

          Xevious??

          • I've googled it up again (as there's no way I'd have gotten it otherwise, and I couldn't bear thinking about it). I'm out of the contest, good luck to everyone else!

            • Buck......tut tut.... [pm me what you think it is ]

Well i would attach a sound file........but i can only find ones in .sid format which i think is the origonal C64 sound chip?

Anyway the version i played was the Atari 800 and it had maybe the best graphics of the lot(unless it got 16bit releases?).

there were a couple of possible semi-red herrings in my clues....to try to avoid the 'googlers'

Clue4: it was a real tough game and i never made it to the final 'third level'.

                • Dr.Spike i'm really not sure.........why what you thinking of?
And No Asmodean it isn't that one.

(buck did get it right after he did some creative googling)

                  • I was thinking Commando, since it was released for the Atari (and NES I think) and there were lots of trees. But there was blatantly an arcade version, so it probably isn't right.

                    • Hmmm...Commando certainly fits the bill. Especially with the number of levels. But I don't agree with coT that it was a hard game - if indeed it is Commando.

My guess is that Spikey is a winner

EDIT: To hear some of the great music from this game, go here: http://remix.kwed.org/index.php?search=Commando

                        Naturally.

But do I have the right answer?

But no sorry guys its not commando.

I would say this game was no way near as famous as titles like commando, but it did get a decent fan base - those that played it had found a little gem of 8bit[Clue5 follows] magic

oh yeah Asmodean, i forgot to answer your question about my guess of Powermonger - what really made me think of it was the use of the word 'revolutionary' , at the time there weren't that many revoltionary games as programmers were struggleing with hardware limits etc, but Powermonger was definately a revolutionary game at the time, and a damn fine one to boot

                          • /me takes a look at the number of posts in this thread

It's almost time to start a new one... but until then, could someone write down the games guessed for this thread? I'm too busy with homework at the moment
This space is empty... or is it?

                              • A short summary before me move:

                                Released cira mid-late 80's on 8bit home computers(C64/Atari800 etc),great graphics+music(for the platforms)

                                Clue1: twinkle 'my' forest
Clue2: think of something that can be seen as ecologicaly a good thing
Clue3: Its an action/arcade type game, with an unusual plot
Clue4: It had three types of level to get through, but was very hard and i never got past the second level.
Clue5: It has some conection to the word 'magic'

In a roundabout way Lord Of The Rings has 'things' in it that reminds me of this game
