Bullfrog's Powermonger?Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

Indeed, Powermonger always was a bit of a sleeper hit. This RTS 3d game was too far ahead of its time. Looking back it at now it seems awfully familiar to C&C generals.

Bingo!
we have a winner
The game was supposedly based on the castles built in Wales during the evil English repression of Edward I
The game used a psuedo-fantasy plot to this main theme. Its a great little game - even though i probably shouldn't like it'The very basis of the liberal idea – the belief of individual freedom is what causes the chaos' - William Kristol, son of the founder of neo-conservitivism, talking about neo-con ideology and its agenda for you.info here. prove me wrong.

It wasn't as hard as most other games in this thread. Edward I first made me think of Braveheart but then I got a faint memory of him being known for castle-buildings (I have no idea whatsoever why I know that) and then it came as a flash...
Now I guess I have to think up a game of my own...

Good call Kropotkin , yes Edward I built some of Europes most sophisticated military castles, my country is blo*dy covered with them! they are great to visit.
Spookily enough my rank changed to 'King' on this appropriate topic
And Spaced Cowboy - i dunno, cave wars - not all welsh people live in caves - i only do so out of choice'The very basis of the liberal idea – the belief of individual freedom is what causes the chaos' - William Kristol, son of the founder of neo-conservitivism, talking about neo-con ideology and its agenda for you.info here. prove me wrong.

So, now I've figured out an old game. Impossible level: Strategy from around 1990 (no it's not Castles again). I owned it on C64, it was also released on PC. I remember that it was on one single 5 1/4 inch floppy. Ah those where the days! It was a special feeling when you switched side off the floppy when it flew out of your 1541-drive in to your hand. Those sissy 3 1/2 are not close, and don't get me starting on those CDs.... Well Ok, I'm full of nostalgic crap, but isn't this the thread for it? Anyhow:
1) Around 1990, strategy on C64 and PC.
