I have found that everything needs too much wood now. I couldn't use many of the new units or abilities because I couldn't afford it.

I figured it out. Once I had cleared out enough of the defenses around the wizards around the Eye of Sargeras, I sent in the Faerie Dragons with thier Mana Flare to take them out before the units that were left killed them and the rest of my party.I make no bones about my moral support for [terrorist] organizations. - chegitz guevara

Try the info here. What you have sounds like a problem I had briefly (either a crash, or a fatal error msg a minute or 2 after starting the game), which was only solved by a reinstall of windows in the end. However some of the solutions here were successful for others.
The main ones:
Reintall the game. If you have a cracked version try a different crack. Get updated directx and video card drivers. Unistall codec packs. Try the reg fix problem to play without sound and at a deafult refresh rate.

Is the mp worth getting into? This comes from someone with 2000+ matches online with starcraft/brood war.It's candy. Surely there are more important things the NAACP could be boycotting. If the candy were shaped like a burning cross or a black man made of regular chocolate being dragged behind a truck made of white chocolate I could understand the outrage and would share it. - DrosedarsComment

Simply put, yes. TFT is shaping up to be the best MP RTS game ever..........even better than BW.
Opinion was divided on whether Classic was better then BW or not, mostly because of divisions on the appropriate amount of micro/macro/strategy. WC3 was very micro intensive, with little variety in strategies from game to game, which some people didn't like.
Now the game seems great............just as much micro, but firmer counters and more variety. TFT probably will do for WC3 what BW did for SC.
