  • What are you reading right now?

I take it that some people here can drag themselves from their computers long enough to read a good old fashioned book.

So what are you reading this week (exlcuding reading for varsity work and the like). I always have a number of books on the go at any one time.

Here's the current bunch (sick pun) excluding a stack of philosophy books I'm currently reading for work.

"Bertrand Russell: the Spirit of Solitude" by Ray Monk (pt 1 of the best Russell bio available)

"K2 - The Story of the Savage Mountain" by I can't remember who.

"Guns, Germs and Steel" by Jared Diamond (my third go through what should be required reading for Civ players)

Right now? Kody Scott - Monster.. about this guy from south central LA. It's about his life in gang and how bad the situation is, war between crips and bloods, crips and crips. It's kind of interesting..

Well, I'm reading the first volume of Harry S. Truman's Memoirs, and it's pretty interesting because it is the first book I'm reading in English - outside from electronic books on my computer's screen

Rogue states by Noam Chomsky Very intresting reading about the "strong mans rights" in foreign policies.

Looking for a good read right now, but I just finished You Cannot be Serious, John McEnroe's autobiography. Definitely an interesting read, especially if you are a serious tennis player/fan (which I am), but it made my opinion of McEnroe go from "somewhat misunderstood" to "full-on egotistical raving lunatic".

Take a look at "Plagues and Peoples" by McNeill, its a much more sophisticated look at the germs bit of the triad and excellently written.

Currenlty I'm doing various course reading and "Dark Sun Rising" by C.S. Friedman, which is excellent fantasy with very impressive world and character-building.
