  • JohnT in Cleveland, OH.

Tomorrow my wife, baby, and I are making the haul to Cleveland OH. She and Sophie are going to stay until Monday morning, whereas I'm going to stay until midday Wednesday. This is sort of a family/business/vacation thing, as our initial purpose was to go to a Buffy convention for Laura's birthday (which is this Sunday - don't forget her birthday thread! ), but I also wrangled a meeting with a pretty large Telco (and one of the very few to have maintained its value over the past 4 years) which will take place on Wednesday, leaving JohnT kicking around with nothing to do and nobody to do it with for a couple of days. Oh, sure, there's the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Indians, but what I really want to see are some Apolytoners!

So, anybody in a 150 mile radius of Cleveland up to meeting me for beer and wings Monday night? (Don't worry: I'll drive to you) Let me know via this thread (and send me a PM as well)... maybe we can get a couple of us together.

I went to Cleveland for a meeting once. It's not such a bad place. They have a lovely state theater there. During the week that I was there I was able to see "The Phantom of the Opera", the only Broadway musical I've ever had the good fortune to see.

Cleveland is not that bad. Being an Ohioan myself (born and raised in the Akron/Canton area [Uniontown, to be exact] - which is a 45 minute drive south of Cleveland)...of course, we do have a saying about Cleveland though - Cleveland is a nice place to visit, but you don't want to live there! Look at me, I currently live in San Francisco.

Well, I'm about a half an hour away from the Cleveland airport, but probably a bit farther from Cleveland proper. More on topic... hmm, maybe I'd be interested in that, but it really comes down to how burnt out I'll be. There's a topology take-home test due tommorow I'm taking a break from this very second, and I'll be doing a first draft on a group project over the weekend, not to mention coding the rules for a networked version of Stratego.

I'll send you a PM tommorow or Saturday on whether or not I'll still be interested.

I'm near Columbus, which is just about at the edge of your radius (at least it's a straight shot on I-71). Monday nights work for me, since my first class on Tuesday is at 7:00 PM. Your call, since it'll be quite a haul for you to get near Columbus.

I'm not a Geography major, but isn't Broadway in
                            New York?

By definition, Phantom would be "Off-Broadway".

I've nothing, not-a-thing, to do on Monday night so meeting you in C-town would be great!

Snow, I'll be in Independence (Buffy convention) and Macedonia (Business meeting), both of which are south of Cleveland.
