  • Your favourite TV channel

List your favourite channels, the channels you watch the most and give short description of it (we have different channel around the world).

    Mine would have to be:

    CNN - News channel

Skynews - I'm still undecided if this is better news channel than CNN. I liked Skynews better on Iraq reports.

Extreme Sports - Like the name says. Snowboarding, skateboarding, surfing, dirt bikes .. the works. 24/7. I like this very much, I can tune in whenever I want to, and always enjoy myself. Not some crappy homevideos either.

E! (Entertainment) - I enjoy this channel too, it has some crap on it, but they make good 'revealed'-series on celebrities. Other than these, I don't watch it too much.

Canal (3 channels different channels) - Gives the latest movies 24/7. Not free channel though.. Also buys NHL from ESPN and sometimes TSN and shows live games, so it's pretty good. Hardcore porn at nights. I find myself watching this channel mostly at nights .

Discovery Channel (plus other discovery channels) - This is my absolute favourite. I find the stuff they show fascinating. They do very quality stuff, unfortunately not free but worth every penny. I could spend all days just watching this one. It has documentaries, quality series etc. Focuses on things like history, science, war etc. My favourite series in this channel is scraphead (US version is junkyard wars, same show).

Animal Planet is sometimes nice too, when animals do funny stuff, but quite often they focus on tigers having sex and snakes eating dead antiloops so I have to change the channel every now and then.
    In da butt.
"Do not worry if others do not understand you. Instead worry if you do not understand others." - Confucius
    THE UNDEFEATED SUPERCITIZEN w:4 t:2 l:1 (DON'T ASK!)
"God is dead" - Nietzsche. "Nietzsche is dead" - God.

C4 (Channel Four, UK) : Good mix of top quality US exports (lots of HBO stuff on here, free!), and alternative UK productions (Queer as Folk, Alt-TV, etc). Decent news too.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

When the Champion's League footie is on: ITV

Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings: Sky Sports

Otherwise, BBC2 or C4 - they show the best comedy shows.

don't watch a massive ammount of telly, but the football on 3 is always good, and c4 has some good films.

I am currently loving the premium channel "On Demand" service provided by Time Warner cable here. On HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, TMC, etc., I can choose from a menu what I want to watch of their current running schedules (movies, original series, specials, etc.). So I can watch them any time I want, fast forward, pause, rewind--it's like I rented a DVD! I love it.

Currently, watching Penn & Teller's "Bull****!" is top of my list. Watching their show on Alien abductions was so funny I busted a gut laughing.

Haven't watched TV since late January. And you know what, I don't miss it one bit.

Today's TV "entertainment" is lame and repetitive, mostly aimed at people half my age which would be 18 and below. And I get my news from my daily paper and the web.

What I really hated was all the trailers in between programs (and during programs) to inform viewers what programs were on later that night, the following day and so on. Endless interruptions and commercials.

It wasn't worth my time anymore and I doubt it will ever be again.

                        Ha!

NBC still consistently puts out the most good shows, for my taste, and has for a while.

Look at this track record for the last 20 years or so:

Cheers, Cosby Show, Seinfeld, Friends, LA Law, Law and Order (and all derivatives thereof), ER, Scrubs, Will and Grace, Frasier, SNL, the Tonight Show (with Carson)...

You don't even have to like all of those to realize that they are head and shoulders above any other US network.
