Ha ha. In Canada, tax day is on April 30th. I filed mine at the beginning of Febrary and collected a big fat refund cheque by March.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

You wonder if the Soothsayer in Julius Caesar got it wrong. Perhaps he should have restated it:
'Beware the Ides of April'“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Frequently, but not always, such overcharging is voluntary on the part of the taxpayer, at least the ones that have a predictable yearly income. The person feels that they can't save it on their own.
Personally, we strive for a small refund/overpayment (less than $100 US) most of the time. We put the extra amount into a Christmas Club account at the bank and draw interest off it instead of giving it to the govt for free. This way we can't touch the money, and it earns interest. The Christmas Club account can be used to pay the taxes if we underpaid and would owe taxes.
It has been harder to guess our tax bill this last year because of a few variables; mainly deductible educational expenses that are change each semester and a job that has different hours each week. I check earnings/taxes withheld/expected tax bill several times during the year to help determine how we are doing and will change our W4s if we need to.Last edited by kring; April 15, 2003, 02:42.
