Because next year those morons are going to forge Syrian or Irianian documents. They'll maintain power by killing nonexistant threats, and bankrupting the US in the process.

This is old news. We provided the documents to the UN without knowing they were forced. The forgery so bad, that everyone knew that they were not made by US intelligence.

But the question is why did the State Department not detect the fact that the documents were forgeries prior to giving them to the UN?

I suspect that the person responsible is no longer and power.

Just a note, and it may have nothing to do with this event, but recently Richard Perle resigned, giving no reason.

I saw this, its ridiculous and Powell trys to pass it off as if we received it in good faith and wouldn't inspect it. Whats really sad is I used to have respect for Powell. I get the feeling he doesn't want anything to do with this drama.

Last year the administration was trying to fund a Bureau whose only function was to lie.

Isn't he still on the board of advisors, just not a chairman?

Brits claim 13 year old terror document is current:

                  UK Guardain
                  More Lies

The GOOD news - at least the Iraqi Information Minister can find work with Bush.

You're going to be waiting a while. Powell was the biggest counterweight to those two, but he has been thoroughly dicredited thanks to the duplicity of the French. Way to stab your best ally in the Bush administration in the back; such behavior is just more proof that the French are diplomatic masters...

Blame the French for everything that's wrong with the world. Poor Powell...

Powell has thoroughly discredited himself and hasn't acted as a good counterweight for quite awhile it seems.

you know, you're right. bush, wolfie, and cheney are amazing diplomatic masters. i mean, after all, they were able to cut the legs out under powell, push ahead with their agenda, and then thoroughly discredit powell to boot. let alone all the things they've done to other people inside this country.

all while looking like heroes protecting the american way.

i'm so sick and tired of people bashing the french. sure, they're not admirable, but a good deal of the diplomatic mishaps before the war can be credited to the united states as well.
