I don't see how that's happening.
It remains to be seen whether the US will handout rebuilding contacts to companies such as Halliburton and paid with Iraqi oil.

Thats stupid. Why would they be anti occupation? Now that we've messed the country up, we need to fix it. Or maybe we will invade Syria and forget all about Iraq. just like we forgot about Afghanistan. Then they will hate us.

It has to do with letting Iraq to the Iraqi people, letting Iraq riches to the Iraqi people and such...
To be true, it has to do with saying "the Yanks have made a bad thing, and we must say how much the Yanks are bad". Since it is hard to protest about a past issue, they have been forced to find a "constructive" revendication.
I'll probably go to anti-occupation rallies when the occupation will be superfluous. For now, the power vacuum has to be filled by an organized institution, i.e the USUK army.

DD's right. The anti-war movement will simultaneously become anti-occupation as well as demand that the US lives up to its obligations to Iraq rather than do another Afganistan.
Why is Afghanistan a US and not a UN problem? That country was destroyed by the long war with the USSR and the subsequent civil war. The US put an end to it.
The UN should have the responsibility where the problem was primarily caused by the USSR.
We all know the anti-war rallies were organised by the communists. Che is proud of their achievements.
Communists have two purposes in life: 1) establish a communist paradise somewhere on this globe; and 2) destroy the United States.
The protests will continue regardless of the issue. However, they will not be attended by so many average citizens who may have been against the war but who are not communists.

How so? Would it not then be primarilly the job of the Russians?
But of course, that is ingoring the role the US played in prolonging the war against the Soviets with massive aid to the rebels, then there is the fact that the whole world abandonned Afghanistan after the Soviets left in 1989, then Afghanistans neighbors backed differeing internal factions, such as the Pakistanis backing the Taliban while Russia, Iran, and India backed the northern allience.
The UN had little to do with any of that: why then is it their job, anymore than the Us's, which had more of a hand in what went on that an organization like the UN?

I am a communist and I don't intend to destroy the US despite my strong dislike for most of its policies. However, I sure hope the whole world to have a democratic/socialist economy, which includes the US.
Where did you get the idea the communists want to destroy the US

It's called "projection." It's taking your own values/traits/etc. and give it/them to other people. For example, a person who is suspicious of everybody else may think that other people are suspicious of him too, which in fact is probably not the case.
For the longest time the US was out to destroy communism, or at least communistic countries. So of course some "patriots" project this on communists, thinking that we are out to destroy the US.

this is ned youre asking...
Ned is a diehard rightwinger, but he is not stupid. More than once I have seen him curious of what is said on "the other side", and more than once I have seen him accepting facts that don't correspond his worldview.
So, I asked this question out of genuine curiosity and interest

Um... it really isn't a streach to say that Communists want to destroy the US. The US is the hegemon, the world superpower. It is also the embodiment of capitalist values and excesses. Any communist that doesn't want to see the US fall isn't that great of a communist .

The U.S. right now has to walk a tight rope. We can't abandon Iraq to its own devices since the country would just fall into anarchy. On the other hand we can't keep it under AMerican adminstration for too long or we get Iraqis and Arab blowing stuff up trying to get us out. As well as Americans protesting that their sons are dying trying to keep a plot of sand under control. This problem was my major objection to this war. If the Bush adminstration does succeed I will gladly eat crow as well as wipe the nervous sweat off.
