I don't think this Sahaf guy will get away easily. He had been Iraq's foreign minister for at least 10 years. He is one of the inner circle.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I could imagine his corpse giving a press conference, with a tape recording playing in the background; "Rumours of my death are lies spread by the infidels. These villains have been expelled from Baghdad personally by me, for I am still very much alive".
"Paul Hanson, you should give Gibraltar back to the Spanish" - Paiktis, dramatically over-estimating my influence in diplomatic circles.

I think there's a movie script in there somewhere, Paul.

Speaking of corpses, next we will see Saddam's corpse being obviously manouevred like a string puppet with Sahaf doing a voice over in an attempt to prove that Saddam is alive and well.

That'd be instantly noticeable. He'd be saying "Gaghdad" constantly, for one thing.

He is a criminal, allright. When he was Iraq's ambassador in Stockholm in 1985-87, he fired upon human rights demonstrations outside the embassy. Somehow the Swedish government never found out, so he was never expelled. Or the person saying he did so is lying.

From the first time I saw him, he reminded me of that caracter of the 'Fast-show' . He is absolutely brilliant.
If he is not dead, I wonder how long it will be, before he makes an appearance on the tonight-show...
                              -

We had an interview here with a (native)woman who was married to an Iraki man, and she was told to watch Al-Jazeira etc.
She trully and completely believed all the minister was saying, and disbelieved all from the coalition side.
Believe it or not, but without this guy's daily "comedy" show, this war would have been over with sooner.... and that is the real shame of it *

Maybe he can get a job on Crossing Over:
"Let me see... yes, yes, I have contacted Saddam. He is telling me that we will crush the infidel invaders under our boot."
