  • My personal torment.

    Synthetic Rytine.

    Cool sounding name.

I feel like a cyber punkie.

    It has an appeal.

    5 synthetic rytines. Even better.

They "gloo" it on the outside of your teeth (when you have eaten too much junk food and didn't brush regularly... ***** me please* ). They are the same colour of your teeth and are very hard. Can barely tell the difference.

But one of those 5 fillings with synthetic rytine hasbeen DETACHED 3 (THREE) times.

I feel I am cursed. I have seen so much the inside of the dentist room, I'm actually starting to feal at ease

Anyone else have had this torment before? The filling that simply would not stay there?

It is really worrysome. More so when your mind plays tricks on you and you think that all of them will go away.

Tell me your misery, make me feel better (or not so alone in my torture).

If it happened to someone else I'd laugh...

    It must be annoying, yes.

But I thought this thread was your personal torment?

One of my friends had something quite similar. Just before Christmas he went to the Union and drank quite a few alcopops, cheap ones. Full of sugar, full of fizz.

He woke up the next day and felt a pain at his back teeth. Given that Aberystwyth doesn't have an NHS dentist he waited until he was home and was told he'd have to pay £100 to have each side re-enamelled, as the alcopops had burnt it all away.

He got told to lay off fizzy drinks, cider, etc... now he's been drinking quite a lot of lager recently and finds it too painful to brush his teeth = took his enamel away again.

      I shouldn't laugh, but...

I chipped out my front tooth back in first grade, when I fell off of the monkey bars, so the dentist attached this artificial thinginabobber to the tooth's root (which was still in). The artificial thinginabobber then chipped off when I was in second grade, and chipped off again when I was in third grade. That's when I went to a new dentist, who attached a more high quality artificial thinginabobber, and it hasn't chipped out since.

that's a bit farfetched but yes, it can happen in a relatively short amount of time.

it's isn't plaque, it's corosion of the teeth which can be acquired in a short while (if you eat LOTS of acidic foods - coca cola enemy no1) and it can be rampant if you're of a... erm, "wanting" teeth hygiene.

                It sucks.

                IT SUCKS.

a small infection of the gums can prove more than enough in preventing the correct attachmened (gloo) of the synthetic rytine with the tooth. Even one miniscule, invisible to the eye droplet suffices....

and there's no godamn freaking guarantee that it won't happen.

I went to another dentist and he freaked me out completely. He talked about periodontic cleaning (that's gotta hurt) and creating a whole clean environment before he even tries it.

he said to take off the other fillings and let him (or a collegue of his) redo it. Yeah rigght, if you want the money just say so
now I'll go to a 3rd who specialises in intra gum cleaning.

the more doctors the more craziness

Well he drank so many cheap alcopops that he just passed out when he got home, didn't clean his teeth thus.

it's freaking beautiful as long as the fillings hold.

I'm pretty sure implants are where the root is also artificial, but in my case the root was still fine, so they put some other kinda thinginabobber on that was cemented to the root. Can't remember what it's called, since it's been about fourteen years since I needed one.

I am having my teeth fixed for over 3 years.

First braces (that were really small and unnoticeable)

Then one of my teeth died. So I had a root canal, and now they're making a prosthetic tooth (crown?).

                          Not always pleasant.

Especially when they had to saw my upper jaw a bit before, to cut out a tooth that never got out.

to help me understand, can you use an easier word, or a descriptive phrase for "thingabobber" since I dont understand it.

was that a case? was it screwed into the root of your tooth?

Loinburger most likely got a crown, especially if the root is still there.

An implant is a rather new technique where they screw a whole tooth (root and all) into the bone. This is a rather new procedure...
