I wonder how these potential intelligence gatherers for the CIA feel about having their student aid cut.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

VICTORY over Florida Proposed Bill H665

        Hello Friends,

I am happy to report to you that Florida State Proposed House Bill H665, sponsored by Florida State Representative **** Dravitz has DIED in COMMITTEE!

I would like to thank all of you for your support in defeating this bill. As Americans, we are passionate about protecting the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution and the "Bill of Rights" of the United States of America. We understood all along throughout this process, concerning H665, that the Constitution provides every human being on American soil "Equal Protection". However, as stated by **** Kravitz, the Bill of Rights only guarantees "Equal Protection" to US Citizens. How wrong he was! He was debated on this very fact by myself, you all, and his own District. His own district's newspaper, article written by Matthew I. Pinzur, Times Union Staff Writer of The Jacksonville TimesUnion disagreed with his statements and purpose of this Bill. Read entire article: http://www.apaam.org/sys-tmpl/jacsonvilletimesunion/

We would also like to thank those Florida State Legislatures who voted to oppose this "unconstitutional" Bill. Democracy prevailed for us all.

        Salaam,
Jamal S. Baadani, President - APAAM

        And here's the Bill itself:

        Proposed House Bill H665

        Section 1.

Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, no funds from general revenue, the lottery, or financial aid fee revenues shall be used to provide student financial assistance in the form of scholarships, fellowships, grants, loans, tuition or fee waivers, or other financial assistance to any nonresident alien student who is enrolled in a Florida public postsecondary institution and who is a citizen of any country that has been identified by the United States Department of State as terrorist or supporting terrorism. A student's country of citizenship shall be determined at the time of a student's enrollment.

        LEGISLATIVE SUMMARY

Prohibits funds from general revenue, the lottery, or financial aid fee revenues to be used to provide financial assistance to specified nonresident alien students.

Syria, Libia, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, N. Korea, and Cuba
        .

And here is the progress of the bill through the committee. Note that the damn thing died more than a FRIGGIN' YEAR AGO!!!!!

well not necessarily denying it, but maybe making it a bit harder for them

            Boy, is my face red.

That's what I get for copying links from another forum without doing adequate research about what exactly I am linking.

Florida has a rather large Arabic population. Jacksonville apparently has a large Syrian population.

True, MarkG, but crap like this goes on in every Western democracy - it's called "pandering to the voters."
