Why not? If democracy in Iraq makes the Middle East as pussified as democracy in Germany made Europe, we'll never have to fear violence from the Arab world again...
...yeah, and soon Americans will start buying Arab cars

What they should have is let the UN watch over the rebuilding of Iraq, but have Coalition forces run the show....the UN would just make sure that what is being done isn't unethical...kinda like a watchdog.

And how does the UN decide what is ethical or not?

By whether the French veto or not?

                The UN is dead.

By what the majority of the UN says.

And its already been said: NO WAR.

The French didn't kill the UN.

                  The US did.

The French decision was based on anti-Americanism, not on a rational exploration of the fact that 12 years of diplomacy have failed.

French decision ? You mean French-Russian-Chinese decision ? (not to mention all the other countries opposed to war)
Oh, well. I suppose it's easier to bash France all the time...

I doubt this amendment will be excised during markup and reconciliation, but it would be nice if the airline handouts aren't included in the final bill.

All of the airlines, especially Continental, put on a big phone and letter based push to support the bailouts. Shame on them for sneaking that pork through
