I like sappy music played by bands

            Jack Johnson - Flake
Weezer - say it aint so
Ozma - Battlescars (if u tried weezers ur guaranteed to like it)

By the way, all artists I mentioned, their songs are all good. And "best" song is quite debateable.

For Hip Hop, try something on the wild extremes-

Techno Animal- pick up a track like "DC10", or "Cruise mode 101". Don't be put off by their name- it's rap set to crushingly heavy noise heavily influenced by Grindcore.

Rock? Get some God Machine. Pick out "Home" or "The Blind Man".

Country- you need some Uncle Tupelo. "Black Eye" is a good one. Or Pete Yorn's "Strange condition".
The genesis of the "evil Finn" concept- Evil, evil Finland

Something Corporate is good. I like "I Want to Save You" and "Hurricane".

Unwritten Law is also good, and so is their self-titled album. Good songs: "Harmonic" and "Cailin" (my theme song)

Coldplay of course. Clocks is simply an amazing song.

I'm listening to Tatu at the moment.
However, they aren't really in the genres you are after.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Also check out the Mad Caddies. Excellent ska. Good songs include "Econoline" and "apathetic".

                                The O'Jays - Back Stabbers.

(Yeah, it doesn't fit any of your genres, but give it a whirl.)
