Do they actually sell routers without DHCP?

My preferred DSL modem/router is the DLink DSL504. 4 ports, easy to configure.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

Real routers, sure. Probably not these Cable/DSL router/switch combos.

        Guynemer

Disreguard Shanky Burna disclaimer. It's always his fault. But he is knoweledgeable on this subject.

--" We did not have to do this with the Linksys BEFSR81 router we have. Does this have something to do with this router having DHCP built in?"

No, this will be up to your ISP. I probably should have mentioned it before, but most DSL companies these days are running PPPoE. If they've just assigned you a static IP you probably won't need to worry about the username/password bit, but if they told you to install some software on your computer to log in with you'll have to do it.

          Haven't seen a Cable/DSL router without it.

One more note, if you're going for an always-on connection, keep security in mind. I wouldn't recommend buying any router that doesn't have SFP (Stateful Packet Filter). This seems to be showing up in more of the lower end ones now, though. Just make sure it says SFP in specific, and not some general security or firewall claim.

Did Guynemer get a Dymanic IP Address and get "Ported" to another Time, Space, "Domofloppy"? Or is he still muckink about trying to make his current setup work?

No, he finished his Spring Break as is back on the wards.

Haven't had time to fix things just yet.
