  • Al Jazeera expelled from Iraq

Well for all those who thought Al Jazeera was a virtual mouthpiece of the Iraqi regime, the news is just in that the network has been expelled from Iraq by the Iraqi government.

If this is true then kudos to AJ since the fact they are detested by both sides is a good indication that they are telling it like it is. Indeed it is a badge of honour.

So I hope the critics will be a bit more charitable.

Oh, this is must be the final chapter in the book How to Win Friends and Influence People by Saddam Hussein (with Tariq Aziz as a ghostwriter).
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

No. They paraded our dead soldiers on TV for all the Arab world to rejoice at.

Western newspapers "parade" the dead across their pages every day. What makes Americans so special?

My newspaper refrains from showing corpses in images.

Is it really different in Quebec?

I don't think that SH would expel Al Jazeera if they were the great public relations team that some in the west think they are. And to suggest that he's doing it to curry favour with the West is simply absurd, DanS.

All that time Al Jazeera spent sucking Saddam off and he still booted them out!

Of course that would be absurd. But that's not what I suggested. Oerdin's clued in.

They were lackeys of the Iraqis. Just not big enough lackeys to hide the obvious.

Oh come on - if Al Jazeera was a lackey of Saddam then all the US networks are merely mouthpieces of the Pentagon.
