Is it really necesary to underline that Saddam is a ruthless dictator? Does anyone buy the story of Invading Iraq for the good of the Iraqi people anyway?

I bet that as soon the USA finish their thing in Iraq, they'll let the Turks in to slaughter the Kurds....They already would, but they still need the Kurds to help them with Saddam. I mean, its not like they didn't do it before....

but its the fact that they explicitly went out of their way not to air footage of the POWs and now here they are showing people getting murdered...wheres the consistency on the value of human life?

or are only american lives really sacred?

I expect you'll get an answer like "is AlJazeera does it too!". That doesnt make it right.

Anyway. My opinion is to show it all. Let the world see what kind of regimes the USA support, or recently supported.

To American television, yes. But this is a pretty common media approach to covering death. It is not an American thing.

In Canada, Newspapers avoid showing dead pictures of local people. Pics of a couple of dead people from another province, the US or western Europe are sometimes okay. Pics of dozens of dead bodies from another the third world are published without a second thought and no one ever complains.

You know what I think is funny? They say that displaying the american POWs infront of the camera is breaking the geneva convention, yet they're all more then eager to show Iraqi POWs.

Point of the matter is, it is against Geneva convention to publicy show interrogation or otherwise humiliate POW's. Merely showing them is not against the Geneva convention. Subtle difference.

For instance showing them being taken (although to you and me may at face value be considered humiliating) is not considered inhumane. Showing them being interrogated and/or forced to give testimonials is considered humiliating and inhumane.

That doesn't violate the Geneva convention.
