I know a few of you still play these

I got 3 more Civil War ones today (I had bought the first in the series back in '92)

and I am thinking that I would like to get some more, but do not know what ones rae arround

I have a lot of ASL and SL (WW2, platoon level)
I have some Civil War (the pieces are regiments and bridages)
and I have a few odds and ends

what I would really like is some of the type that I played when I was younger, like Africa Korps and D-Day

    so anyone have nay recommendations?

Id on't feel like fighting Ebay for the old classics

oh, and for why boardgames are better than computer games?

you just feel stupid taunting the computer after a victory

You should play MP games then... then you get the best of both worlds. The ease of playing on a computer, and the fun of taunting humans

Depends on what you want. Scale (ASL is squad level, while Europe in Flames is Army/Corps IIRC), period (Urg vs Oog to starships), complexity, realism, etc.

I have a shelf full of Avalon Hill games... And every Friday night, people come over to play board games. But we usually end up playing the more simple games like Rail Baron, because we are just getting together to have a "few" drinks and be friends. Even a short senario from Panzer Blitz is asking to much of a bunch of drunks

Don't forget Drink Maker. We had rules like "Chug when a royal heir is killed."

The best board game of all time is Go. I feel that chess is a distant second.

Go is excellent, but you can't play it when you are drunk, or less than serious.

you know, higher level than squad leader

                    WW2

                    not extremely complex
