    Nothing new.

In Yugoslavia their smart bombs ended up in Bulgaria.

Plus smart or not they detonate smaller bombs that go randomly to kill each and everyone in any random direction

Glad to know you're the expert. CBU submunitions are only one type of ordnance used in "smart" bombs.

Rufus - the Iraqis don't have reason to downplay civilian casualties, and they're not claiming huge amounts. Considering what evidence is available, lots of the appropriate targets in Baghdad were burning, so there doesn't seem to be too much of a problem.

Accuracy over Baghdad seems to be better so far than GWI, if for no other reason than the Iraqis aren't putting up near as much AAA as they did originally.

So what are you saying that is different?

And that came from an expert.

To be correct one bomb ended up in Bulgaria.

The poor villagers woke up and found a bomb on their fields.

Still better than on their heads, like the Serbian people.

500, 000 is still bogus, no matter how many times you repeat.

Considering the number of missles and bombs dropped in
Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

you might have reneged, but i vividly remember the title of your thread saying "one million dead..."

500,000 is still proposterous. Your fury has done nothing to our tactics. Whether there would have been widespread world sentiment against the war or not, we would still be conducting it in much the same way.

Except those aren't exclusive nav systems - they're used for terminal approach and object collision avoidance, but current generation Tomahawks in the TLAM version are capable of using INS/GPS along with the look forward & lookdown radar systems.

That number does not only include casualties of war, but also deaths by less obvious reasons such as lack of clean water, which causes disease (and perhaps epidemics) as all the power installations and the like will be bombed, or the lack of food etc etc... Also don't forget that with all these bombings, much damage will be done to the buildings of not only saddam's clan, a good number of people loses their house (and lives if they were accidentally in their house when it was bombed)

Those bombs can be pretty smart, but it doesn't prevent them from destroying the surrounding premises!

Anyhow I don't think you can put a number to the amount of deaths because there are many factors, and nothing goes as planned or as estimated in a war so just can't know.
