The soldiers 'dressed up' as civilians could actually be civilians, seeing as Iraq has an American attitude to firearms ownership, and they hate our guts more than they hate Saddam.

On the topic of Basra, it seems like the British anounce that they're going to attack and occupy the place every day, yet don't seem to have moved an inch...

BTW, I'm enjoying the US administation's new line that Saddam Hussain is not the main target of this invasion and that it's unimportant wether he's dead or alive.

In a sense though this is completely true - if you interpret it to mean that they're not going to suddenly stop now should they find out for sure that he is dead.
They want to get the rest of the upper echelon as well.

Really. First I hear they've captured it, then I hear there's heavy fighting. Then I hear there's a civilian uprising taking place, now they're backing down from that. It's becoming a bit of a joke.

One thing I've found interesting is the Iraqis seem to be giving accurate figures on civilian casualties. Their latest count is 251. They've been lying and exagerating about a lot of things but the casualty figures seem plausible. You'd think they'd be claiming thousands of civilian deaths by now.

The neo-conservative hawks in the Administration like Cheney, Rumsfeld, Perle, and Wolfowitz, who are driving the war, are still claiming most Iraqis see the invading forces as liberators. I wonder how much longer they can keep saying that without looking completely ridiculous.

Tony Blair is now saying British soldiers taken prisoners were executed and using it ruthlessly to drum up public support for the war. It will be interesting to see if that claim holds up.

It seems you've missed the latest. The prisoners displayed by the Iraqi weren't British soldiers at all. They were Kenyan drivers who had been contracted by the military.

                          True or false -

The real reason Blair is on board - the CIA has photos of him and a nanny goat.

Looks like all the "news" that came out from the Brits has been wrong. Blair was accused of lying by the family of those two UK servicemen who were killed by Iraqis.

So now the Brits are telling us Iraqi troops are firing on the people leaving the city.

Fool me twice, shame on me.

A nice summary of various media reports which have turned out to be incorrect.
