AFAIK the opera house is private property, and to deface an unrelated private building in protest of a government policy is wrong.
I'm 99% sure that the Opera House is public property. AFAIK, there were two painters: An Australian and a British student. They're both facing charges of some sort, and the Brit is probably going to get kicked out of the country for violating his visa conditions.

          Damn good protest though

Yeah good on them. It's an ugly building anyway - especially up close.

Some NZer once described it as "Some nuns in a rugby scrum".

Try seaching for Australian anti-war groups - they're bound to have so good photos. I had a look at the Sydney Morning Herald website (www.smh.com.au) but it seems that you have to pay for old articles and photos.

Nah, Australians are too laid back to try anything like that.

Case in point: a couple of days ago there was a dawn protest outside the Prime Minister's residence here in Canberra. Despite the protesters blocking the PMs main driveway, the police were very laid back and happily split a few boxes of donunts with the demonstrators. The PM even ended up saying hello to the protesters when he returned from his morning walk. Somehow, I really can't see that string of events occuring in the US.

                        No.

The peace movement has chosen to support brutality, torture, rape, murder, lies, and worship of a Fuhrer as a form of government.
