Sounds weird.. In my opinion the most respectfull thing is to let those bodies of brave soldiers rest where they now are and not dig them up. I don't know if any of your relatives are on that place, so don't get offended, but I think they are on their rightfull place, in the beach where they fought and falled, even if the US has some disagreements with France now.
