Well if blink 182 was out in 1993 I bet NSA would play it to David Koresh all night long.

or if you don't want class, then how about the stooges?

        Now sadly a commercial jingle.

I’m Chas, your host. I am a freelance writer/editor, graphic designer, Mac guru & broadcaster/podcaster in Victoria, BC, Canada. I love good friends/food/movies, travel, architecture, my wife, my various obsessions and the miracle that is the Internet. Thanks for stopping by!

More often, though, I get appalled. Iggy Pop's "Lust for Life" was great in Trainspotting, but when it was used in a Heineken ad I blanched. When I heard it later in a ****ing CRUISE SHIP AD I knew we were tumbling ass over teakettle down a slippery slope. Iggy Pop songs should be used to advertise heroin, not ****ing yuppie ****ing cruise ships vacations with their ****ing brat kids.
At least Iggy started straight and didn't fast track to sell-out like this Blink-182 generation.

          I know static, I know.
I try to ignore it when bad things happen to good songs...

What the **** is wrong with that? It's not like it makes it a worse song! And if it makes one kid go out and buy the album, that's one more person potentially converted to good music! What does it matter where a song comes from? What's the point of all the posturing, all the cliqueism, all the "not good enough" snootiness that real bloody punks rebel against, you retrograde bastard? Bring back the music into focus! Who cares what the surroundings are?

But there was never any add from a Pink Floyd song... or was there?

                  Not that I can remember...

Can you imagine Mc Donalds add with "comfortably numb" and the camera on the sales guy

                  "
There is no pain, you are receding.
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're sayin'.
When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse,
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone.
I cannot put my finger on it now.
The child is grown, the dream is gone.
                  I have become comfortably numb."

Of course there wasn't. Roger "his holiness" Waters would never consent to letting his finer music descend into such lowly commercial culture. He's a man with standards! Fox Hunting, Stravinskij riffs, pomp, pomp, pomp!

besides the fact that just the stars would make you watch this masterpeace again and again... at least they are well known do you have a Swiss company you can recommend?

through a toyota commercial? - Lust for Life - the new corolla gives you - Lust for Life

Well there is probably other ways to get to the Stooges or Iggy ususally... I doubt that a jingle around a 4 door sallon with the brand new 16 v engine will convert anyone...

Just improvising I am sure that many young kids were converted to Rolling Stones by Win 95 "Start me up"

Well I'd say there is nothing bad really, but hearing something that you appreciate in a crappy add again and again in between Home and Away breaks that your roomate watches every day can take the joy away from you sometime.

Nah, I'm American, I just like the flag. It should be an Elegant Angel feature so we can get some real nastiness.

I thought this is about the RIAA.

Anyway, they are just the middleman. They are not required anymore.

If you just ignore pop-culture... it eventually goes away. It's too bad there are too many dumbasses that stay glued to MTV to listen to what kind of music they should like next.
To us, it is the BEAST.
