I wasn't at Apolyton the day it happend. I was asleep, then watching the footage on TV. Then working.

I really didn't participate in any of the threads.

Since I'm not in those threads, they can't have any value, and hence, weren't archived

WTF? The big thread on 9/11 WASN'T saved?

Now that's a stupid admin decision. Other major forums probably saved their threads and now are part of the history.

"Daddy, what did your forum do during 9/11? Well, son, the admins were shoveling spam in Louisiana."

S. presidency

Blast. I just looked at the CD which should have saved the 2000-sept 2001 files and found that since it ws the first CD I ever burned... that it really didn't burn

So... unless Colon or fjxorc or Dookie saved the thread... we no longer have it

I think that FreeFireZone might have theirs, however...

Man that's so sad, that's such an amazing thread and an amazing piece of history.

IIRC, I answered that WTC question...

Could be wrong, though. It was a year and a half ago.

I'm not sure exactly how the system at Apolyton works, but why were those threads deleted?!?!?! That's a tragedy! What really pissed me off was that most of my teachers at school didn't even mention it. How many times does something like this happen?! It's something that your grandkids will ask you about. And for some reason, that day's science lesson seemed more important. I was getting up when it happened (Pacific time), but I never turned on the radio. In jazz band before school that day our teacher said a plane crashed into the towers, but of course rehearsal time was more important. I had no idea how many died. I thought a private plane that some terrorist flew into it, and I thought, "Gee. 50 people must have died. And I didn't think anything of it afterwards.
"The first man who, having fenced off a plot of land, thought of saying, 'This is mine' and found people simple enough to believe him was the real founder of civil society. How many crimes, wars, murders, how many miseries and horrors might the human race had been spared by the one who, upon pulling up the stakes or filling in the ditch, had shouted to his fellow men: 'Beware of listening to this imposter; you are lost if you forget the fruits of the earth belong to all and that the earth belongs to no one." - Jean-Jacques Rousseau

Hmm. Absolutely everyone I talked to the next day mentioned it. And while travelling, I heard people discuss the event with each other.

Probably one of the most historically important events in our lives - perhaps the most, and it wasn't saved?

Sure there must be an explanation for this!

No recriminations please but im amazed there is nothing left. Keep looking guys im sure you'll find something burried at the back of a server or on an old archieve tape or disk youve forgotten about. What about back ups? Are back-up tapes kept or do you just re-write them?

Thanks for all the interest off everyone, I used to read a lot of the threads when I first started reading poly a couple of years ago but didnt actually see the threads started 9/11.

i ended up having to give a speech in class that day after talking with my dad and finding out his building in downtown chicago was being evacuated. That was teh worst grade I've ever received on anything before

Also here's their main thread on it, and the moment of silence. There are about a dozen other 9/11 threads over there too you can look up.
                            Unbelievable!

Look around you. No one remembers 9/11 anymore, not really.
