Watson and Crick discovered the double helix structure of DNA 50 years ago. Now we are on the verge of completely mapping the human genome.

Well if you put it that way, that would be just for DNA on earth.(\__/) 07/07/1937 - Never forget

No, but it is likely that DNA exists/existed/will exist on other planets.(\__/) 07/07/1937 - Never forget

Didn't we finish the Gnome project already? Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

Well it is all very nice to know the entire human genome, but the human genome isn't as simple as knowing the contents of a hard drive...we need to know about all the expression patterns, the complicated patterns of interaction of resulting proteins, and so on and so forth. How do they all interact to make the human being? That is the big conundrum, and will be a challenge for decades, perhaps centuries to come...Speaking of Erith:

Maybe we should start with something simple, like flat worms.(\__/) 07/07/1937 - Never forget

Well we already are of course...we need a lot of computing power to figure out some of these interactions...we have sufficient in some of the smaller organisms already, just a matter of scaling up...Speaking of Erith:
