  • The Atlantic Humour Gulf...

Apparently Ali G got panned in the States - that show is hilarious, especially the interview pieces! You guys don't know what you're missing...

    Article

The same thing happened with Monty Python as well when it first aired in the US...

Still, I can't wait for when they show 'Ali G in America' over here, it could be his best series yet from what I gather...

    Gulf? Yawning bloody gigantic chasm!

Speaking of yawning bloody gigantic chasms, did you find the lavendar bush? The absence of which left a yawning bloody gigantic chasm in your garden?

I think it's really that the US media industry is so much bigger than the UK one, so we in the UK pick up on US stuff much more quickly.

The UK stuff filters much more slowly into the US.

      They'll get it eventually

Hey, I'm trying to be polite...

Actually on closer inspection the french lavender was found hiding in my garden's dark recesses...

As for the gigantic english stuff - no idea!

Our theory is that the g/f of the couple renting my flat is petrified of bees and the Lavender attracted the bees to the proverbial honeypot and was right next to the door. Her mother was over for a while and may have done some extra-curricular 'gardening'...

The guy, being a guy has no clue of anything and the g/f broke up with him before their lease was up, taking her secret with her back to Namibia...

How's the digicam coming along - are you getting more time to play Civ II now that she's distracted?

        Great pix BTW

If she did, how very rude of her!

Is the mother still around? I'd go her.

I could re-enact the Crimean War here in the study and she wouldn't notice.

              Great pix BTW
Great little camera. BTW, when does the novelty wear off? If ever? If I get told to "smile" once more - while I'm at the computer trying to work - I'll scream!

I 100% agree, it's basically vandalising my property!

Still, everything else was in tip top condition - you never can tell when you rent your flat out to people...

Is the mother still around? I'd go her.
No idea, I think it might also have something to do with the couple breaking up. Oh well, it's only a minor nuisance, Ms MOBIUS was the one who was pissed...

Perhaps now you can see how it's money well spent...

                Um, I, er, cannot comment...

I read about this guy in Newsweek. It will be interesting watching him. The article made him sound like a funny guy and he certainly has an interesting background.

I hope you do so with an open mind - don't take him seriously or literally, which is apparently the main problem US audiences have been having so far...

His interviews are one of a kind!

I read an article about him and he didn't seem too funny. Wouldn't better gags be where the person being interviewed makes the punchline?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Actually the point is getting a serious interviewee who's obviously there for the public exposure and making them squirm and look stupid...

                            For example:

Former US Attorney General Richard Thornburgh politely corrects his interviewer's belief that the expression "hung jury" refers to the size of the genitals of those selected. Edwin Meese, another former American legal supremo, gently deflects the suggestion that a death-row prisoner could avoid execution by choosing as his final meal an "all you can eat buffet" and simply keep stacking his plate day after day.
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?
