Kinda sad when your threat to be able to devastate two countries shows 50% unreliability...

Do you know that the US is resuming the food aid to DPRK? IIRC, 100 thousand tons?

Yes, we have offered to start shipping food to them again at a highly reduced rate though. What's your point?

Oh, nothing, just mentioning a factoid. Interestingly, RoK's new president Roh sharply criticised the US hardliners, making it a point that he will continue the "Sunshine Policy."
Looks like Bush Jr.'s foreign policy is not getting any support in the region.

Isn't there already a thread for discussing the benefits of South Korea's appeasement policy regarding the DPRK? This thread is about the missile tests.

Insofar as I'm concerning right, RoK's new president — who isn't that much different from Bush when it comes to *not* having much foreign policy experience — can do whatever the hell he wants to in order to please his buddy in Pyongyang so long as it doesn't entail the use of U.S. troops to protect his butt or U.S. monetary "guarantees" (blackmail) to North Korea.
Why is it, again, that NK and SK can't have a formal peace treaty? I thought West Germany and East Germany had a formal peace treaty, and they still managed to reunite ...

Oh please, as soon as they sign a peace treaty the Americans will attack North Korea. Bush all but admitted it when he said NK was a member of the "Axis of Evil."

Why would we attack if North Korea and South Korea sign a peace treaty? That's ludicrous; we can use those 37,000 troops and material elsewhere, thank you very much.
As for that "Axis of Evil" statement, you can't help but wonder if Bush knew even then that NK was violating the terms of the 1994 agreement it had with the United States and its allies. Hence NK's inclusion in the statement.
