  • Please explain this User Friendly strip.

    Thanks!

No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Simple - Micro$$$$$$$$$$$$$$oft is evil. That pretty much describes every other strip, too.

No, Illiad hasn't been hitting MS that hard recently, and I haven't heard about this .net, so I'm wondering what stirred him up.

.NET is like Java, only quite a bit better and more flexible.

In the third cell, that's what the guy on the left asks about.

The guy on the right makes a very lame joke (that would warrant a shot in the arm). I'm not even sure what the joke is. That's how bad it is.

Basically, MS is Satan. .NET is by MS. So therefore it's "platform-satanic".

        God, somebody smack them.

I'm sure even Asher would agree that Penny Arcade and This Modern World are more humorous than this comic.

Penny Arcade is usually pretty good. Gabe's a moron sometimes, but who isn't?

I never got into This Modern World. The comics MarkG posted turned me off completely...

              My thought on Tom Tomorrow:

                Ahem.

That's not what that guy asked. He wanted to know if .NET is platform independent, i.e., write once, run many. The answer is no.

                  The answer is YES.
What do you think Rotor, Mono, etc. are all for?

Tell .NET to compile to intermediate code (syn: Java bytecode), it runs it through the .NET CLR (Rotor or Mono for *nix, Apple is making an OS X port, and the Windows XP one has been available for over a year)

While User Friendly sux0r, Penny Arcade sux0r even more.

No way, User Friendly is atrocious, Penny Arcade has some classics.

In anycase, this one was lame.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

I'd agree it was pretty poor, but I don't think it's worth getting all worked up over.
