            • I have some questions:

              1) Since catchers do not play every game, what happens when our selected catcher is sitting games out? Do we need to pick an extra catcher?

              2) No DH's? Can we pick DH's to fill in for position players?

              3) Middle relievers, what is their role? Having a closer is meaningless without set up men.

              • 1) If you catcher is out during the week, then you get no points. So it is good to pick a catcher that will play a lot .

                2) There is a 'U' player, which is basically a DH. If a player JUST has 'DH' next to their name, then they can only be used as a U player.

                3) In this league middle relievers will count mostly towards ERA, SOs, and WHIP. They usually don't get many Wins or Saves, but they can get points for them as well.

                  • It depends on if he's hit the wall or not . Catchers over 30 are always risky propositions, which is why I held back on mine .

He could have a great year or a bad one.

                      • Yes we will... as someone who won the league two years ago, I know what I'm doing .

Catchers are mostly hit or miss (look at I-Rod always getting hurt and Kendall falling far in a short amount of time), except Piazza. Piazza's D sucks, but he always keeps hitting the damn ball.

Posada may have a Javy Lopez like year this year. It happens to catchers when you get to his age.

                          • To elaborate on my questions, if I take a second top closer, wouldn't he be guaranteed more play time than a middle reliever who at best shares duties with other middle relievers? The key I suppose is finding a true middle reliever who will get alot of play time.

Let's say I have 3 outfielders and one is injured, could I fill his spot with a top DH who will be playing alot rather than a utility player who fills in where needed? I'm wondering at the flexibility we have swapping our players.

Face it, we are all taking chances with Catchers. They suffer by FAR the most injuries of any other position. Hell, when you get thrown at by 90 mph pitches, are expected to block them, and are in a squat half the game, your body will ache too .

I was wondering why Kendall was still available.
