Drug smuggling and thugs go hand in hand.
This is a good bust and pot is the most underrated drug ever.
This is a good thing.
Thugs smuggle drugs only because you and other prohibitionists have criminalized such actions.

I never said it was "fine." But I don't consider it an activity that the state should prohibit.

Wow, that sounds Utopian. Maybe we can sell meth in banks as well, just to ease the complications of robbing to feed an addiction that can't physically stop growing before death!
Floyd go dig up the archives in the Libertarian posts, the topic has been beaten to death.

You people need to pay attention to history. Prohibition doesn't stop usage. It simply adds a criminal element to it. If you legalize marijuana, criminals will have less of a way to make money. How many gangsters still make money smuggling alcohol or operating speak-easies?
Sure, we all know drugs are bad... look at Zylka...
But it isn't the governments' place to preach this morality. There is one inherent problem in drug use... addiction. Prohibition simply turns addicts into criminals. By legalizing, you can seperate the thugs from the druggies and help with anti-addiction and rehab programs that could be funded from taxing legal marijuana sales. If you could buy pot at a grocery store or gas station, you wouldn't need to buy it from gang-bangers or drug cartels. I think the goal of law enforcement would be to bankrupt criminals if you can't catch them. And since demand for drugs hasn't gone away, it's only intelligent to legalize.
Good work by the cops. Ten tons is just a drop in the bucket though. An incredible amount of BC Green gets through from this side of the line despite the increased border vigilance after 9-11.
My fear is that the terrorists will start talking to the drug dealers who seem to get a lot of product through to the US successfully. Who knows what the terrorists could bring in.
As far as the sentiment that BC shouldn't care that pot is now our major cash crop because the Americans won't trade fairly in lumber, I disagree. Pot growers will always attempt to justify essentially unjustifiable actions whether the lumber punitive duties were there or not.

Here we have one of the biggest problems on side with the "legalize drugs" campaign. On one hand there is myself, who is coping with a (minor enough) cocaine addiction and educated on the ill-effects of any drug you can come up with, on the other - some virgin flake spouting the wonders of free choice because he finally managed to take a hit on someone's joint just before graduating high school. You know just as little of the processes involved in the world of recreational drug use as you do general politics - Does your Grandpa teach you all of your values regarding this, as well?

BUYING POT FROM GANG BANGERS AND DRUG CARTELS??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA You really don't have too much a clue into the reality of ANYTHING, do you?
Excuse me, Hobbes, Felch and myself are going to smoke a bowl with "GANG BANGERS AND DRUG CARTELS" right now. Glad to have your educated opinion - Get out and live before you post again, ok?
