Try this for a variety of numbers. You will find you always get a multiple of nine.

Notice all the multiples of nine have the same symbol.

I had little doubt the first time ( come on, there is always a logical explanation. ), and started laughing the second time, as I saw that the symbols changed. It took me a couple of more tries to understand the system.

Yes, the symbols change every time. The crystal ball always display the symbol at the 0th position (9⁰), which is repeated at all other powers of 9 positions.
