Mr. Fun - check out the UCC. Our interim minister before we got a permanent settled minister was a lesbian, for crying out loud!

      MrFun:

(This is not intended to be judgmental or prying in any way, I'm only curious

Why do you feel the need, exactly, to join a denomination in order to affirm your faith in Jesus Christ and/or Yawae?

I mean, most (not all, of course) liberal Christians recognise the gnostic gospels on some level, and they seem to clearly state that no formal denomination is required to live a Christian life. What's your take on that?

If I decide to become actively faithful, I think I will find the Episcopal denomination to be best for me.

That's great that you found something that works for you though, Monolith.

It doesn't sound like you're being judgmental.

For years now, I have felt that I could believe in God and Jesus without belonging to any Christian denomination.

But the past couple of months, something was gnawing at me -- I think I feel incomplete, because I have not found some meaningful, active way to affirm my beliefs.

This is where denominations come in -- people who feel they need to actively affirm and express their beliefs often look for a denomination within their religion that is most comfortable for them.

I do not believe in any "wrong" denomination, or any "wrong" religion. I think the point is that however you believe in God, he would want you to express your belief in him in the best way that is possible for you to show your love for him.

            I agree Mr Fun

denominations are not required, but they are often beneficial in our walk with God

There was no option for those who are Christian (like myself), but have opted out of churches in general never feeling that they could really fit in anywhere for now because it seems that churches have all lost the plot and have almost become like a bunch of little cults everywhere and always wanting money and making empty promises and they need to get back to the basics of what Jesus actually said on the sermon on the mount.

Within the church of England(angilican) there are variations form the low church lot who think the puritans had too much fun all the way to the high church lot who would be Roman Catholic if the pope would apologise for not allowing Henry VIII to divorce
