      I think France prevents itself.

            Hey, that's nothing!

We supported any dictator who opposed communism, no matter where! So we didn't limit ourselves to just opposing a nationality!

            We still outdo the French!

Yeah, the French can't even support the right dictators.

As ever you have missed the point.

Pinochet was not protected by the government, he was freed by our JUDICIAL SYSTEM which is independant from the government. He was efeectivley freed because it was thought he was too ill to be extradited.

Obviously in Greece the government can intervene in the judicial procees to get the result it wants.

This was all part of a deal whereby the French would continue to back sanctions against Zimbabwe and we wouldn't kick up a fuss about Mugabe's visit this week as part of an African conference. Not quite the way it seems to be portrayed. I'd rather they'd left him out of it, but...

Yes but it was a bit onesided- He can come anyway and if you make to much fuss we won't support sanctions.

And what about Ivory Coast? Have the French asked the UN permission to send their soldiers there?

Wasn't he arrested over here a few years ago for a similar thing? I think he tried his citizens arrest shtick, and was done for public disorder or somesuch.

Just a little correction. That weren't "the Spanish" nor even the Spanish government. It was a single judge wanting to appear at the news front page.

It is unfortunate that the French will allow Mugabe to visit. The man has taken what was once a sucess story in Africa and destroyed it. See what hapens when you vote for conservatives?
