If I was going with morality I'd have given them all 1's (or F's) like you did.

There you go David, first time I ever heard you admit that your opinions are not based on the real world. If you thought about it a second (unlikely) you would realize that the reason you can't find any political leaders you like is that this remains a cold cruel world and all the nations ever lead by moral men are, well, gone.

        If ever any were.

Well, because he did nothing about ending social programs, the income tax, foreign aid, support for Israel, involvement in NATO, huge military spending, and things of that nature.

I agree that no nations are currently led by moral men. The US certainly isn't. Actually the leader of the US is more immoral than average, at least for current world leaders.

I do recall him making noises about liberalizing marijuana laws, though

David, I really think that Carter is as close to your kind of idiot that we are ever going to get in the White House.

How? He and I are pretty much completely opposite in our views on politics and morality.

FDR was in bed with Churchill pretty much from 1940 onward, despite most Americans wanting no part of a war with Germany.

According to David, the embargo on Japan was a valid cause for attacking the US.

No, I don't make this claim. My claim is that Japan would not have attacked the US without US provocations, of which support for China, forward deploying PacFlt and the embargo were a couple of examples.

As to being attacked by Germany, this would not have happened if we were actually trying to avoid war, which we certainly were not.

His impotence on the foreign scene doesn't endear him to you in the least bit?
Not really. He didn't, for example, withdraw from NATO, or take troops out of Korea.

                                STYOM,

Doesn't make him immoral, though... there'll be laws against dope use in the USA until hell freezes, whether he wanted them or not.
He could have refused to enforce them.
