UN Security Council Reform: Who should be the Permanent Members and have the vetoe?

I have heard talk that Germany was up for consideraton for an invitation to become a permanent member until this recent fiasco with NATO and TURKEY. The talk is that they would now never get by an American veto.
As to my preferences should we begin from scratch:
US, EU, China, Russia, India, Japan, Brazil, Egypt, and Indonesia. The UK and France would have to give up their votes in favor the EU. The EU should also have a seat in the GA.http://tools.wikimedia.de/~gmaxwell/jorbis/JOrbisPlayer.php?path=John+Williams+The+Imperial+M arch+from+The+Empire+Strikes+Back.ogg&wiki=en

You still haven't provided a good reason why Europe should have more than one representative
(Don't get me wrong...the French are whining punks, but they do have worldwide influence)
Australia = To give Oceania SOME representation."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003

Why not have it based on population, with every country with more than 100 million getting a place?
China
India
United States
Indonesia
Brazil
Pakistan
Bangladesh
Japan
Nigeria
Mexico
Hmm... the subcontinent seems over-represented. But maybe it should be.
Also give a seat to any EU-type groups.

Hmmmmm....We may have found a way to truly make the UN irrelevant."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. France and UK both have places on the council. Can you name me one country that has more world wide influence than eithier (with the exception of US) ??
The diplomatic influence of France and Britain is a direct effect of their permanent seats on the Security Council. You can't use the influence they gain from the Security Council as a reason to keep them on the Security Council...KH FOR OWNER!

Way before there was even a thought of the UN, Britain and France weilded vast influence in the world.
The world has changed a lot in the past fifty years. Britain and France have little influence outside the UN anymore.
Let's face it...they controlled a large part of the world's land, people, and economies at one time.
The key phrase being "at one time". I don't think we should be handing out permanent seats on the Security Council based on a country's past glory.KH FOR OWNER!
