like they could keep that a secret. Clinton couldn't even keep nuclear secrets from China . Of course he sold those...

In any case I support this plan.

I don't want any ******* thinking he can pillage my home .

      oh I forgot to mention.

Those dumbasses missed an asteroid last year!! WTF!! It passed within 75,000 miles of earth and they did not realize it until after it passed by.

So it's not like these dumbass military guys will even know if a killer asteroid is coming to kill us. We have no way of tracking these things effectively.

Ehm. Since this policy of keeping any possible collisions secret would be rather public, it would mean people live in a constant fear, because they aren't sure if there's a rock inbound or not. That would mean living in continuous anxiety, which would be a lot worse than telling everybody if such an impact is going to happen.
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

If it passed within 750 000 miles of earth and wasn't spotted until after then it probably wasn't big enough to kill everyone on the Earth. Maybe only 10%...

10% is bad enough. Trust me that would probably cause much panic and looting if that was going to hit.

But if we can't know about the collision, how's the gigantic apocalyptic orgy going to be organized?
"Spirit merges with matter to sanctify the universe. Matter transcends to return to spirit. The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency
"That’s the future of the Democratic Party: providing Republicans with a number of cute (but not that bright) comfort women." - Adam Yoshida, Canada's gift to the world

It would be quiet disturbing if we all have raped, murdered, stolen for a few days and the astroid would miss the earth.

"OOOOPs, I was just kidding when I raped your doughter "

"NOooo, this time I'll pay again "

"Noooo, I was kidding when I told you that I think you're ugly I love you and you know that"

The only thing I'd do different is pick out a good place to watch from.

And stay awake if it happened at night.

No way is a giant asteroid catching me in my sleep!

Hands up, all those who think that there would be those trying to take a picture of the impact for some obscure reason...

Maybe the best answer if an asteroid on a collision course is spotted is to put this screwball "scientist" in a rocket and fire him at it. Then he might achieve something useful.

Nah, there are too many humans to be wiped out like that. Dinosaurs died because they were specialists. Humans are generalists, which means we suck in normal situations, but great at surviving calamities.

I have little doubt that we will survive (unless the planet is rendered permanently inhabitable by the collision.

But it will either set us 50k years back in time, or will make the privileged few to create a means of surviving without dependence on the biosphere for a very long time.
