Does anyone here know the words to "Till we meet again?" It was the closing theme from my movie("Doctor Strangelove, or How I Learned To Love The Bomb") and would go along very well with this post.

Oooooh, even better. Use low yield nukes and claim they were regular missiles. The radioactive remnants will be claimed to be from the nukes Saddam was developing.

Can we get back to the original topic? What is your country's official position vis a vis the call to arms against Iraq?

          UK:
          Official
          Supports the US
Will join in the action if a UN resolution is passed, or if a resolution supporting it is capriciously vetoed.

          Unofficial
          Vast majority are against war
Opposition will largely evaporate if there is a clear UN mandate.

As far as I know Canada will support war if the UN agrees BUT there are many in the government that are pushing to support the US even if the UN doesn't agree. So far I see the Prime Minister as being wishy washy and jumping back and forth about commitment. Of course you can't trust the media even the media in your own country about your own government.

Maybe I should have made this into a poll.

Which governments would utterly refuse to support armed intervention in Iraq even with a UN resolution?
Which governments would support intervention only at the behest of a UN resolution?
Which governments would support intervention even without a UN resolution?
Which governments would actively oppose armed intrusion into Iraq?

                We'll Meet Again
                The Ink Spots
Written by Ross Parker and Hughie Charles

This version did not chart but
In 1941, Kay Kyser and Guy Lombardo's versions both hit # 24
In 1942, Benny Goodman stood alone at # 16
And in 1954, Vera Lynn brought it back at # 29 and her version was used in the final scene of
the 1964 film "Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb"

We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when
But I'm sure we'll meet again some sunny day
Keep smiling through, just the way you used to do
Till the blue skies chase the dark clouds far away

Now, won't you please say "Hello" to the folks that I know
Tell 'em it won't be long
'cause they'd be happy to know that when you saw me go
                I was singing this song

We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when
But I'm sure we'll meet again some sunny day

MONOLOGUE: Yes, we'll meet again. Darlin', I don't know where and I don't know when. But
I KNOW we'll meet again one of these good ole sunshiny days. Ya know, darlin', all ya gotta
do is just keep on smilin' through you know just like you ALWAYS do, until the blue skies
chase the dark clouds far, far, far away. I wantcha to do me a favor, please say "Hello" to
                all
the folks that I know. Well, just tell 'em it won't be long. They'd be happy to know that when
you saw me go, I was standin' right here, singin' this song.

We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when
But I know we'll meet again some sunny day

Australian people: Very much against the war. It receives something like 3% support.

Australian government: Has already sent over ships and troops. They are asking the American government "how high should we jump?".

Off topic, a little more on Vera Lynn. A song by Pink Floyd from the Album... The Wall.

                            Good song. Good lyrics.
