  • UN weapons inspectors report

I hope this thread doesn't get closed.

The presentations by chief weapons inspectors Hans Blix and Mohamed ElBaradei were far more measured than the harsh assessments of Iraq they issued two weeks ago to the council.

The response to their reports makes it highly unlikely the United States could muster the nine votes needed to authorize war now. Without nine votes, France, China and Russia would not be placed in the position of having to exercise their vetoes.

All I get is an error 404: Weapons Not Found.

Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

      Should be error 1441 though
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus

Seems like Blair is softening, and W. is just a shade less hawkish.

Hans Blix and Co were hired to write a report on what they were shown in Iraq. They were shown nothing therefore he reported nothing. Hans was hired to report what he saw, not question what he was shown.

                  I agree with Vel here.
It'll buy enough time to European governments to convince their population that Saddam has exhausted his last chances. The European media will change to bear a pro-war message, and we'll have a beautiful slaughter with plenty of support, like Daddy had.
All Euro countries will lick the generosity of the US, and everybody will be happy. Except the dead, the crippled, the wounded and their families, but who cares anyways ?

Yes, just like them. But the Iraqis will get less attention.

They don't have to be dead or wounded. They could be defectors or deserters. The choice is theirs.

Now Boris, don't go ruining a nice unfounded link between al-Qaeda and Iraq with such harsh things as the facts. Yes, of course everyone knows that not a single 9-11 terrorist was an Iraqi (the close allies Saudia Arabia and Egypt provided the rich, fertile crop of jihad-junkies) and that bin Laden hated the Iraqi regime until talk of war in a Muslim country got blasted all over the news (say what you will, you gotta admit bin Laden knows how to spin is stuff. He latches onto whatever's gonna enrage the Muslim street.)

I mean, such things do get in the way of happy caps lock fun.
