My brother and I made a pact that if we both happened to go senile that we'd go sledding down the Grand Canyon in winter (and end our lives in "dignity"). Dissident, don't give this too much energy, k? I've considered that every moment I spend thinking about death comes straight out of my time. Thinking about death is like watching 'Swept Away'. It's time you just want back afterwards.
I've survived the Cuban missile crisis when I was a kid, the cold war up close and personal as a teen, etc...etc. Still here! 44 yrs and counting...
The country has never been stronger vs potential enemies. Compared to back then, this is a piece of cake. The Iraqis aren't the Soviets. People are getting all worked up about attacking Iraq, but really...it's not THAT big a deal.
If you are one of the soldiers attacking, then yes, it's big as the biggest or smallest battle in the world because your universe is on the line.
