Does anybody know of any good French or German bands? It seems like mostly Europe produces club music and stuff, but I was wondering if anybody knew of any good indie rock or anything similar that comes out of Europe. Anything would be good, just so long as it doesn't suck, I'm just requesting French and German because I've studied those a bit and might have slightly more of a clue as to what is being sung.

Well, my knowledge stops at around the mid-70s, but Francoise Hardy's 60s recordings are quite lovely. In a similar vein, but rather less good, are France Gall, Atoine and Hugues Aufrey.
Someone else will doubtless mention Kraftwerk, Can and Faust, so I won't bother.
Buggered if I know what either country has done recently...yada

April March are sort of 60's French music revivalists. Which is good if, like me, you think there wasn't enough of it the first time around. They are, however, from Toronto and sing mostly in English. But, due to the somewhat unspecific nature of Kazaa downloads, I did labour for a long time under the illusion that they were a single 60's chanteuse in the Bridget Bardot mould, so I count them as French.Last edited by Seneca; February 14, 2003, 21:26.yada

I've got Rammstein, they're well known in the States also. KMFDM (No pity for the majority?) I've heard of also. Wumpscut I'll look into.
I'm checking out some April March and Edith Piaf now. Thanks, so far everybody.John Brown did nothing wrong.
