    Congratulations To My Mom Are In Order

    Some of you have written Birthday wishes in the past to my mother, so I thought you might want to know of a great accomplishment.

    Twenty years ago today, she gave up Black Jack Daniels.
    No drinking since. Not 1.
    It wasn't always easy, I know.
    Today, she's going to mark the ocassion by attempting to give up cigarettes.

    So Mom, WTG. You should be very proud of yourself.

    Congrats are in order. Giving up addictions can be tough (it took a momentous effort for me to shake ACS..)

    Hopefully her choices will allow her longer life and more time to enjoy family and friends.

    I gave up the booze some twenty years ago but still have the cigarette monkey on my back. Hope she has more determination than me.

        She still has a long way to go to atone for inflicting you upon us, but it's a start!

              Nice to see people setting goals for themselves and making it.

                          Thanks all. She's taking a nap right now, but I'll be sure she sees your kind words.

                          Boris, she knows and agrees 100%.

                          Azazel, yes. Mom is a recovering alcoholic.
                          She got 3-4 DWIs and did some jail time on weekends.
                          She went to A.A. and has a fistful of chips.

                          As Chris might say though, "She's feeling MUCH better now".
