  • The US/UK go to war : how will your country react?

If the US and UK declared war on Irak against the wishes of the UN, how would your country react?
    What?

There will be a few demonstrations of pacifist illogicals in London, but the silent majority are in favour of us attacking Iraq.

Without a UN mandate, don't you think that the majority might shrink ?
      What?

It's not even worth considering that possibility.

The UN will do whatever US and UK want. Otherwise it is irrelevant.

          Talk about irrelevant.

I'd probably go to a few protests, then give up in disgust. Apart from that I'll write a few snipey articles that won't get published.

I wish I had the nous to organise serious protests. If all the people who were opposed to the war stopped paying taxes, the Government couldn't lock them all up.

              Almost everyone approve the war.

Hopefully nothing falls on us though.

So silent that no-one can apparently find them for the TV interviews or opinion polls.

You are correct though. Unless it goes disastrously wrong people in the UK will largely ignore the whole thing and it will give the media something to report. Only an economic crisis is really likely to change the outcome of the next UK general election.

Moral people will protest and/or question the Republican party. The others will mindlessly wave their flags, put them on their SUV's and enjoy the 10 cent a gallon savings of gas when the war is over; all while saying "God Bless America" as we murder thousands in another country.
To us, it is the BEAST.

I was thinking more along the lines of : how will your country's government react ?
Join in ? Just stay out ? Sign or initiate a UN resolution condemning the US and UK ?
                    What?

                        "country"? Gov or people?

The government will whine and groan (trying to be European) until the time to decide arrives. Then they will offer what limited support we have and get on board the US plan. Economically, we have few options.

The people are seriously divided on the issue but, as we are Canadians, our government doesn't have to listen to the people.
