A moral has authority only because people with authority enforce the moral.
Which in democratic (republican) countries, the authority is held to represent the 50% + 1 of the people. In a dictatorship the dictator is at least 50% + 1, or else he'd be gone.
The 'authority' is usually what a majority of people say it is (at least publically) in society. That is what you are ignoring.
So, Imran, slavery was presumably OK in a society where 51% of the citizens agreed with it, correct?
