  • I pray NASA gets more funding. The technology on all 4 (well 3 now) shuttles is from the 1980's. Most of us dont have cars that old.

    • ...Remember, there has been some research done that cellphone and other microwave-like emissions may mess up the instruments on a shuttle

but I doubt that it was anything but technical error- since at that height nothing should have effected it. (and cellphones even have a hard time effectin airplanes)

        Any more questions?
        Really.

Let's not forget who the victims are, in both sides.

Making Palestinians who die by you, sound deranged and bloodthirsty doesnt cut it.

If Iraqis was the one who killed Palestinians they would celebrate whenever Iraqis died.

Which brings us also to the point of symbolism with what regards Iraq where an estimated 500.000 of "their" people will be killed by US bombs and diseases.

Does anyone really wonder why some celebrate?
Those who do are from another planet.
Those who are angry are utterly clueless and forget who the helpless victims are.
Unfortunately not the only victims, but the most.

This is about a shuttle loss when Iraq is prepared to be attacked and the full blown on CNN "first Israeli into space" was playing every second.

No matter the irony involved in all this, some would like to consider it just an accident on the exploration in space.

Your comments about some Palestinians celebrating, which is logical that they do, only enforces the above mentioned irony.

          • If seven of my family members died in an accident, I would still call this the greater tradgedy.

            Why?

The impact on nearly every American for one. The loss of all that training, and in some cases, the history. The loss of most, if not all the work they just gave their lives for. The loss to the space program, which must suffer, and thereby cause a loss of the furthering of knowledge for us all. This is bigger than the seven lives lost.

            Much bigger.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

                      • I hate to spoil a really good threadjacking, but I've been surfing the news webpages & I can find no stories of any celebrations in Gaza City or elsewhere.

& BTW, those people who wish the debate any Israeli-Palestinian aspect to this tragedy may wish to start their own thread. Thank you.

                              • The shuttle began breaking up at 200,000 feet, which nixes any possibility of some sort of external attack on it.
