Some cynics explain this common phenomenon as the result of oxygen starvation of the brain.

    I prefer Doc's explanation.

      did he give an explanation?
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

          Let's see...

She wasn't actually dead. She apparently had her sensory inputs systems functioning. She could relate her sensory experiences after her output capabilities were functioning again.

          This is odd?

That reminds me of a joke that Mormons tell each other.

A man dies and goes to Heaven. When he gets there, St. Peter gives him a tour. At one point they come to a large wall and St. Peter gives the man the "Shhhh" sign. When they pass, the man asks, "What's on the other side of that wall?"
"That's the Mormons. They think they're the only ones here."

They say your brain becomes overactive just before you die because of shortness of oxygen to the brain or something like that. Ugh.. If I could explain the process, I wouldnt have withdrawed form my neurology class.
