He was a member of the Iraqi Communist Party. He hates Hussein. In 1991, after the Gulf War, he took up arms with his countrymen and tried to overthrow the Ba'athist regime. He says American heilcopters were present and just watched as they were slaughtered. He was captured and tortured by Hussein's men. He escaped and lived in a refugee camp in Saudi Arabia for years before emigrating to America. He's now a citizen.

He doesn't want the US to attack Iraq, and he has more reason to hate Hussein than any of the armchair warriors here.

We can go round and round bringing up people from Iraq with differing opinions on the issue. So what's your point?

The point is Gulf War II is not about overthrowing Saddam, it is about replacing him with a US lackey.

I think people do forget to pay attention to the fact that within those countries are many civilians. The simple fact is that the west doesn't want these groups such as that your friend was involved with che because they want the spoils of war, and they want Iraq within their sphere of influence, to be their b*tch, and to grab all they can, especially in terms of black gold.

Don't get me wrong, I have no like for Hussein, he is a murderous, nasty piece of work, but what is the alternative that is being pushed?

don´t get me wrong, I only did a test. English is my 3rd language and so it comes out that I can´t elaborate many things I actually want to say.
with this test I found out that it is easier for me to elaborate a pro war positon in English language. probably because it only needs a couple of short polemic phrases to defend this position.

again you misunderstood. I don´t criticize a language here. my point is that it requires less arguing to defend a pro war position. the phrases I have to use are given by bush&co (evil dictator, freedom and human rights, etc. blahblah) and it´s almost only a copy and paste of short simple sentences. this is not a matter of which language we use.
