About France you let your sentimentality and only what you have heard guide you. Always a bad advisor unless you're just killing some time.

Both US and France have real politik interests.

US wants to control the region.
France has serious interests in it.

For what is worth there is no danger to american citizens from Iraq.

The inspectors are a smoke screen, a play of actors to define the outcome.

If they find "no weapons of mass destruction", and war doesnt happen US loses its efforts to control the region.

If they do, or dont, or the UN approves or doesnt but a war happens, US wins in trying to control that region and its oil.

Thats the game and thats the prize.

It is sad that people will be killed over it. Both americans for the ambitions of their gov and what IT thinks are its best interests as well as the iraquis civilians which are inocent in each and every case.

Noone cares about NZ or Australia or Canada.
They are "sideeffects" of colonial england with no real impatc on the world.

The real world in Europe is France and Germany then all the other states and then unfortunately the UK which has chosen to not have the impact its size would guarantee on european matters.

France bashing is favorable amongst americans and english and their "minions". all of which are minor comapred to the world at large.

Do you think that, if France could, it would also try and control the region? "Serious interests" sounds to me like the same thing as saying "wants to control the region".

Yup! A smoke screen demanded by the French to buy more time to try and convince the US not to attack so that they can continue to secure their own interests. Such interests which can be also secured through support of the US.

Do the French honestly like the Iraqis' more than Americans? If so then the US will attack regardless and the French, along with the rest of the EU will be left high and dry as sympathizers against our interests.

Pretty awful if you ask me, but that is how I see it.

You assume too much.

Even it were true, which it is not, sentimentality and good old fashion book learnin' (or as you call it "what you have heard") is a predominate method by which people are guided. This may be why people feel the French are so rude; they fail to realize this.

To Turkey Iraq is the 2nd largest trade partner.
Even to Greece a war with Iraq would flood it with immigrants again.

US wants to establish control and exploit oil as it sees fit.

This is the reality, to which you close your eyes because of what they feed you.

I don't deny that. Did I say something that might make you think that? Or do just, once again, assume everything about everyone?

Landing an army in France on D-day has no impact?
Those "sideeffects" are why you are speakin' Greek instead of German, same goes for the French.

Canada, Austrailia and New Zealand save Britain with
food, resources, and men when they were ALONE.
Britain lives to save the world.

And even then the British had to sink the French Navy.
