  • What is wrong with France?

OK I can sort of understand their Iraq stance, but this?

The prime minister denied today that the Foreign Office had agreed to the lifting of a travel ban on Zimbabwe's leader, Robert Mugabe.

Mr Ancram said it was "hypocrisy of the highest order" for Mr Chirac to invite Mr Mugabe when EU sanctions were supposed to ban travel within the union by Zimbabwe's elite.

Yves Charpentier, the head of press at the French embassy in London, said that France was considering inviting President Mugabe to the summit, but added: "Nothing has been decided yet.

What next, an invitation for Saddam?
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

BTW Mugabe is a racist piece of trash. A tin pot dictator of the worst African tradition.

Yes, I am not too keen on the actions of Mugabe. He is trying to make these grand gestures but just causing trouble in the progress. Land reform, yes, but like this? Certainly not, it just strikes me as suicide.

And I understand France's stand. There has been nothing but posturing from Bush and Blair yet still no proof of WOMD. We know he has chemical capabilities, so why should we care if they find hollowed out chemical shells, it doesn't tell us anything we don't know already...

A better question might be "what is right with it?", it would save time answering.

Shorter answer is requires for "What is right with the French".

I will not bow into the "what's right" bashing, that's idiocy. Yet, there's much wrong with the French. Especially their postcolonial tete-a-tete (wonderful french word) with Africa's bloodiest dictators, offering them huge residences at the cote d'azur is a sad old tradition.

Now I can see it may be an act of bad judgement to invite Mugabe, particularly if the EU has agreed on a different policy, but where the hell is it again American business to decide whom France should or shouldn´t invite?

The US are not even a member of the European Union, thank God.
