  • A breath of fresh air?

people always be talking about smog and pollution and what not so that got me wondering... i know people in Mexico city and eastern european cities and what not have a lot of health problems from the severally polluted air/water but what about more typical cities? is there really a difference between the air quality here in philly and the air in rural Indiana?

    thanks

      yes

According to the display in Bryce Canyon, Utah : Great Basin national park in Nevada has the clearest air in the U.S. Although another national park said Bryce Canyon had the clearest air. Grand Escalante National monument also has very clear air.

even if you dont conciously realize the difference, long term wise, it could be very hazardous.

Added to that, you notice that you cant smell your own body odor, or when you are taking a dump you notice the stench less until you come out of the bathroom and you go back in to do somethign else in the bathroom and your like "whoa!~" If your exposed to the environment for long time, your body adjusts to the constant sound, smell, vision etc. It takes a tourist to recognize how bad the air in philly is, it would be hard for you to determine it. Even then, there's no walled in room you can walk in and cross to tell the difference between philly environment and suburb enviornment.

Yes it does. Come live in Hong Kong for a year. Then go live in Vancouver for a year. There is a difinite difference.

Yes there is. Which is why we should give industries, households, and other polluting entities incentives to cut pollution. None of this 'voluntary' stuff.

Ever try running in any city along the East Coast during the summer? If you don't mind running at 10 at night its fine. Any other time and you get a good case of smokers cough.

Air on the coast of Oregon is the very best. It comes across 7000 miles of the pacific ocean and alot of the crap is washed out in the process.

Well until our city burnt down last week, it had much better air quality than bigger cities with a lot of industry. Now we have huge palls of smoke hanging around and smoke haze everywhere which is hell for a lot of people with respiratory problems.

My great-grandpa died from ephyzema (sp) at age 94, not because he smoked, but because he lived in LA most of his life.
